On the opening ceremony of the One Forest Youth Forum which took place on the 27th of February 2023, the executive director of the African Coalition for sustainable Energy and Access (ACSEA), and the Chair of Technical and Political Affairs of the Pan African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) Dr. Augustine B NJAMNSHI, gave his opening remarks in which he called of an inclusive youth initiative for forest. Laying emphasis on the role of youth and the forest, and how the forest is an important component to address the present climate crises he said ‘it is crucial that the adaptation of forest ecosystems is at the heart of our concerns in order to reduce the negative impacts of climate change that would help young people seize green job opportunities with positive impacts. This is why, on behalf of the Pan-African Climate Justice Alliance, I am calling, here and now, for an inclusive youth initiative for forests and adaptation.’
One Forest Youth Forum is an event co-organized by AGRIDIS and the Pan African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) (PACJA Gabon) in collaboration with the National Youth Councils of ECCAS, the Youth Network for the Forests of Central Africa (REJEFAC), and a hundred NGOs and youth associations involved in environmental, climate and forestry issues.
This forum, under the theme “Youth facing the challenges of the development of forest ecosystems”, is an innovative forum of youth for youth who will advocate on the sustainable management of tropical forests on the sidelines of the “One Forest Summit” to be held in Libreville on March 1 and 2, 2023 March 01 and 02, 2023, co-organized by Gabon and France.
