Over 50% of Sub-Saharan Africa Lacks Access to Energy.
Sub-Saharan Africa faces significant challenges in achieving universal energy access. Roughly 630 million people in the region lack reliable electricity, increasing vulnerabilities and hindering adaptive capacities and resilience to the impacts of climate change. Multiple factors account for the low access to sustainable energy services, but all are linked to or exacerbated by a lack of substantial and adequate financing.
